New book: Niagra Falls, or does it? by Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver
April 2, 2012 pages 1-23 12:20 p.m.-12:45 p.m.
There was a guy named Hank who was always tardy for school. He had to have a talk about being tardy with the principal, Mr. Love on the first day of school. When he had came back from the talk with the principal, he had found out that he had to write a five paragraph essay about their summer vacation. The essay had to have an opening paragraph, a concluding paragraph, three supporting paragraphs, correct punctuation, correct grammer, correct spelling, and it was to be done in six days. Hank was freaking out because he was a bad speller, put wrong punctuation, and couldn't even write a sentence. Hank's friend, Frankie suggested that he could write his essay about going to Canada, Niagra Falls, and getting to steer the boat all by his self when the captiain fell overboard, but that was just a story to make it exciting.April 5, 2012 pages 24-37 3:15 p.m.-3:35 p.m.
Hank had talked to his teacher about why he shouldn't do the essay, but the teacher disagreed. Since Hank, Frankie, and Ashley were in fourth grade, they got to walk home by their selves. What made it even better was that they all lived in the same appartment. On the way there Papa Pete stopped as his bowling alley. Papa said all of them were like his grand children even though Frankie was black and Ashley's parents are from Taiwan. Even though you never ask for root beer floats, Papa Pete always buys them. Frankie was good at magic tricks so Papa Pete wanted Frankie to work for him.
April 9, 2012 pages 38-56 6:39 p.m.-6:59 p.m.
Frankie got hired for the job of the magician. Hank and Ashley would switch off being the assistant and Ashley would be the person who handles money. At dinner time, Hank's family told about how their day went. Emily said that she thought that her teacher thought that Emily was her favorite because she was like the smartest kid in the class and even read an advanced book. Hank's day hadn't gone so well because he found out that he had to write a five paragraph essay. Of course his mom and dad told him to start working on it because it takes him a long time to do work and they had also said that they had expected him to write at least one paragraph. He had to do it quick so he could make it to the "Magic 3"mmeeting.
April 12, 2012 pages 57-75 8:55 a.m.-9:15 a.m
Frankie and Ashley had already made the plans of what Frankie would do for the magic show. They decided that he would take a nickel from his nose, transform one scarf into many scarfs, make a thumb disapear, and pull Hank's dog, Cheerio from a hat. Hank had decided that since he can't write an essay, he will build it. So Frankie and Ashley helped Hank build Niagara Falls(but in a a smaller version.)So the friends built it and were ready to turn it in and get a good grade. Then Hank made a list of what would happen once he had turned it into the teacher. He had said all this amazing stuff.
